Pretty high. I've read that women have to try to leave on average about 11 times before they finally do. The sad thing about that is that most women killed by a husband or boyfriend are killed when they finally DO leave, not while they are still in the relationship. The thing is that the man is not always abusive. It's the whole Dr. Jekyl/Mr. Hyde thing. Some men can get help and do change. My husband used to be abusive but with counseling, medication (for a mood disorder, not for the abuse) and a few other things he is not anymore. I'm glad I stuck with him because now he is "the good guy" all the time and while he still gets angry, he is not violent any longer. It's been almost a year and we are much, much happier. The thing is that he realized he had a problem. Many men refuse to see it, therefore counseling will not work.

The statistics of how many do are very high for a number of reasons like nowhere else to stay, no job, poor self esteem, believing that is how love is shown because some grew up in violent households and think that is what love is, out fear for life, and so on. So many, many families suffer that situation and keep on going back to it. So many people with so many different reasons-believing it will change, etc but what you want to do is call 1-800-853-3503 and someone there will tell you everything you want to know. It is important to know so that you can help others because domestic violence can be deadly and it is always very, very dangerous. God Bless and be sure to call the number.

I dont know the statistics but have seen a lot of women in this situation and most go back! after a while with an abusive partner they seem to think they deserve it and cant live without the creep. If more left at the first hit ,then more would get away .

Domestic violence is not as uncommon as we think
if it you on the receiveing end i suggest you talk about it and then based on the circumstances you have to decide to leave or not. seeing a professional medic will also help.
i hope you find the peace you are looking for

I heard that the numbers are relatively high, because women eith truely love the abuser to "death", or the love to receive pain from these guys.
