Mr. John Ritter, son of famed country singer, Tex Ritter died of a heart attack in real life...
If you watch the reruns in order they would make sense to you as his death was written into the shows episodes...
You see the mom and daughters grieving in several of the 3rd seasons first few episodes...
They speak of him in the past...
It was BIG news then when he passed...
He was a funny actor, and I think almost everyone liked him...

The great John Ritter was taken from us way too soon. I was fortunate to know John, having met him in the mid-70's, a few years before "Three's Company" (he was on "The Waltons" then, as a recurring character). He was warm, caring, very funny, & one of the nicest people anyone could meet. A wonderful human being. The world is a lesser place with him gone.

His name was John Ritter. He died a couple of years ago, just when the show was becoming really popular, he had a heart attack, and there was nothing they could do to save him...it's really sad he left behind a 5 year old daughter and a beautiful wife

Have you been living under a rock? John Ritter died on 09/11 last year, which was also his daughters 4th Bday. He collapsed on the set of 8 simple rules. He had a massive blood clot that took him.

RIP Jack Tripper

It wasn't actually a heart attack - it was aortic dissection. This is due to some kind of flaw in his heart where the tissues seperate in the aorta wall. It is something that people can have an not realize it. I believe another "famous" person who had it and died from it was a Russian figure skater. (He was married to his pairs partner.) They tried blaming it on drugs at first but finally realized it was due to a flaw in his heart. But in both cases, something as simple as higher than normal blood pressure can cause the flaw to worsen leading to death. This is another reason to live your life as if today was your last. You never know what can happen.
