Not all ladies are like this, I'm the biggest committment phobe I know! It takes me months to make up my mind because I just can't have strong feelings for people I don't know very well. I think a lot more men are like this than women, because they're just trying to figure the girl out and make sure she's worth getting heavily involved with. The prospect of being single doesn't always faze men as much as it does women, a bachelor lifestyle is more respected. Women are often looked down on for being single at an older age, and then there's the issue of the biological clock! These things might cloud her judgement and make her more interested in a serious relationship without spending as much as he does assessing what is on offer.
This is all very generalised, of course. I've seen people of both genders go nutty over someone they've just met, even if it's uncharacteristic of them to do so.
