I had my ipod stolen on a bus the other day and the theivs got caught on CCTV, will this help persuade Apple to replace it because it shows that i havn't made it up?

no it's not a product defect or failure...

Apple is not liable for your stolen ipod. Only if you have home and contents insurance and the ipod was insured. But you would have to pay an excess fee, which is probably what your ipod is worth. Or if on cctv and the guys are caught and convicted you could perhaps apply thru the courts for victim compensation.
Just like Holden wouldn't replace its cars for every one that is stolen.

Why would they replace it? That's silly. If you have insurance, MAYBE you can get it replaced yourself.
