Not enough information to answer the question because....
1. How important is the data?
2. How much data is there?
3. What happens if you lose it?
4. How often does the data change?
5. How long will it take to back it up and do you have time?
6. Do you already have equipment to do the backup?
You see, we NEED information to answer the question.

Depends on how much you can afford to lose it!
Really is that simple a question to ask yourself. If you would have trouble continuing what you do tomorrow if you lost it all today - then the answer is a daily backup is called for.
Lots of options for back up - external drive is a great option if you have a network, DVDs (if you have a DVD burner) are the choice over CDs as you can fit so much more on them, or consider using an online backup service (where you data is held remotely).
Backup software will make life easier for you and allow incremental backups if you are going to need daily backups.
Hope that helps - but I would say if you are asking that question, you already know the answer, so get backing up!

Depends on how important the data is to you and how often does it change.
For example at work, the data is real important and changes often so we back up twice a day.

Backup frequency much depends on how much or how often your data changes or has new added.
You have to ask yourself "how different is my current data from my last backup and how important is the new data"?
That pretty much answers when to backup.

depends on how much work you do each day. Backing up daily will revert your system to the day before but I would go for the option of weekly. See if you can get a seagate tape back up drive or a iomega drive to back up your files externally and store the disks in a safe place

I keep a backup of all my important data . If you have a large HD I suggest partitioning it and keeping one partition for all your important work and software . then if you have problems and have to format and reinstall your os and other software you will not loose anything or you could get an external hd to keep your important data on

Cpoy all the important stuff right away. We are taking lightning fast glitches which can wipe out a computer's memory almost instantly.

If you have program you enjoy and trust, then do a back up disk...
I make them every week just in case I have to reformat my computer...
Once I've done my back up disks, I destroy the old ones...
Black disk are cheap so its worth it...
