Alan Shearer... he and Sheringham got 2 each... and if England hadn't let Kluivert score his late consolation goal, Scotland would have qualified for the quarter-finals in place of Holland.

Alan Shearer with a penalty in the 23rd minute then Teddy Sheringham in the 51st minute back to Alan in the 57th minute then Teddy again in the 62nd minute. Holland got one back in the 78th minute from Kluivert.

both him and teddy sheringham (teddy, oh teddy, teddy he went to man u and WON THE LOT).
seem to remeber that alan shearer got a lot of criticism in the run-up to the tournament for poor performances and goal-to-game ratio.
only for the fact that there wasn't a surplus of great english goalscorers at the time he might not have played.
but then he went on to become top scorer in the tournament,
becoming captain and one of the highest goalscorers before retiring.
and now we have to listen to his boring punditry.
