It's not yet time to compare Ganguly (who was captain for 5 years) with Dravid (who is about to complete just about 1 year as captain).
Surely Dravid has produced better results in his first year as captain as compared to Ganguly (in his first year as captain). But Dravid has been able to extend a lot of good work that was earlier done during Ganguly's captaincy, particularly in 2002, 2003 and 2004. Remember when Ganguly became captain Indian cricket was in a pretty bad shape, including the match-fixing scandal.

Ganguly was a great captain, a great leader, a charasmatic captain for team India but his weakness was he has been slacking off constantly. Slacking off slowly creates bad morale towards the team. However good he was, however victory he brought to India, he had been terrible for the last two years personally.
I must agree tht the indian board of directors forgot the past tht Gangully made for India and the was Victory. The insulted him and created him a bad name now, thts a shame and a huge mistake for the team india directors. They kicked him out with disgrace, he doesnt deserve tht.
Dravid is a lousy captain but a good player. Being a captain is not easy nor it can be learned. Leaders are born leaders, people cannot be made leaders. For becoming a captain you need the aura, charisma and most of all the respect of the team.

Y do v need to compare dravid's captaincy with that of ganguly's...
if ganguly' captaincy was good, dravid' is better n if dravid' captaincy is good, then ganguly' was better...
But both don't deserve to b the best captains in crickettin...
I wud go with the statistics that Ganguly WAS a better captain of Team India!!!!

both have their pros and cons, Ganguly was willing to experiment with newcomers and would stand by them despite a few failures, Dravid sets a high standard with his consistent performance which the other players are forced to keep up with. Ganguly could not handle the media, whereas Dravid handles them with total ease. Ganguly would willingly runout the other batsmen to keep stike, whereas this quality is unseen in almost all Indian players.

at this time i think no one is in a position to tell whether who is a better captain....ganguly was aggressive and has the best figure under his names...on the other hand dravid is calm and patient and can be a very good captain....
although it is for sure that ganguly can't become the captain anymore....so this question stands no where...

No..... as Dravid is very cool, calculative and more a shy person and on the other hand Ganguly is more aggressive, poised and got better leadership qualities. Every player looks upon him as a leader and will do anything he demands.

not at al...dravi is a great batsman and a good fieldr..but not a great captain..ganguly was the best captain india ever had...coz dravid lacks agression n control...and he is a passive thinker quite opposite 2 ganguly...and i feel sachin was better off with ganguly than with dravid...sachin enjoyed playing under ganguly....

i can't say it firmly rite now bt i will certainly comment this after a few more matches.
you can't compare dravid's one season captaincy with ganguly's long captain-ship.
and by the way if ya compare them now then also dravid has got the better record!!
