I too am under weight. I weigh the same now as I did when I was 16 years old, and I'm 29 and holding ha ha! I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but at 19 you have probably stopped growing, and gaining weight might not happen as in my case. I don't care how much I eat, i can't gain any weight. I started eating a lot of ice cream at night and that is the only thing that has put weight on me, but you know the downside to eating ice cream. The weight I gained was all in my stomach, so I'm going to have to give up on that idea. If you feel good, then don't be so concerned about it. When you get older you will be glad you are skinny. A skinny person will enjoy being healthy, and avoid such things as becoming a diabetic in older life. You are in better condition than one might think. Trust me on this one, you will be gald you are skinny when you hit 40!!! I will let the cat out of the bag here. I'm 55 years old, look like I'm about 35, I can still touch my toes, and I can still run with the young guns. I get hit on by women that I'm old enough to be their fathers. I feel good, and don't have the health problems of any of my friends that are my age. So being skinny has really paid off in my older years. Being skinny is a blessing in discuise, so give what I have said a lot of thought before gaining weight. By the way I married a skinny girl too, and now at her older age, she too is very glad she didn't gain any more weight. She was still getting carded at the store when she was 40! No one believes us when we tell them how old we are, so if you look at it from our prespective, it's easy to see you might not be as bad off as you think! The up side is; we can eat what we want to, we look good, feel good, and enjoy life. Don't get too much sun, drink a lot of water for your skin, and learn to enjoy what you have, as you may not realize just how lucky you are. If you are determined to gain weight, discuss it with a doctor, and go on a diet that he/she reccomends , but realize this; gaining weight may not be what is best for you in the long run. Hope i have opened you eyes to the facts, as we see it. Good Luck!

Like the others have said being underweight for that weight depends on your height. I am 5'6" and weigh 120lb, and I'd say I'm a little on the skinny side, but not really skinny.

If you feel you are too skinny then I would recommend seeing your Dr just to double to check that there is no medical reason for your weight.

But things you can do at home is to switch to full-fat milk, and add double cream to it for cereals and hot drinks. You can also buy nutritionally balanced supplement drinks. But your Dr would be the best person to advise on ways to gain weight in a healthy way.

Wishing you lots of luck.

Well that depends on how tall you are. If you are over 5'3" you are probably underweight. Here is a link to suggested corresponding weight to height.

Forget about that stupid MTI (or whatever it's called) index. Height, weight = your ideal weight. Obviously, you know you are too skinny...so put on weight if that will make you feel better about yourself. Are you eating regular meals...and healthy ones? Take up Corona....that'll put the pounds on...hee hee ... just kidding! -=) Good luck, my whole life I've had problems gaining weight......but not anymore. I'm not overweight, just have meat now. If God made us all the same, life would be boring....if you are doing healthy things, that's the way your body is meant to be right now....so don't sweat it.

Some thin people have to eat an awful lot to stay the weight they are don't skip meals and carry food with you for snacks. you will feel better if you feed your body...you probably need to eat, make healthy choices, like dried fruit and nuts for snack. Juice is a good source of energy too.

Well that depends on your height. It also depend on what your eating. It might just be that you have a high metabolism and your body burns it's food fast. In which case there is not much you can do. Try eating pasta and drinking milk shakes.
If you want to do something about ask your gp what you can do.
Hope all goes well

If you are less than 5'5 don't worry about it. When I was 19 I was 123 lbs and I'm 5'11. I've put on a little weight but, not much. It's probably just your body type.

How tall are you? That is the only way to know. I'm 26 and I weigh 95lbs. I'm only 5 ft tall though.
