The laptop is a Ben Q joybook 5100U laptop. Everything else works but the keyboard. Is this because of the mainboard or is it something else. How much will it cost to get it fixed. Everything else works but the keyboard. Is this because of the mainboard or is it something else. The only way to use the laptop is to connect a external keyboard. But how can I fix the main keyboard? do you know what the problem is ?

It's difficult to fix laptop's keyboard problems. u better contact with a technician so that he'll open the keyboard and c what's wrong with it. ur motherboard is ok, & that's why u can connect external keyboards. I think problem is the keyboard itself. It will b the best if u replace ur keyboard with a new one. a new keyboard won't cost more i think (70 $- 75$). I think u should go 4 a new keyboard. Thank you friend.

Fixing laptop cost alot in general (going to a repair shop), very difficult for do-it-yourself.

A lot problem could it be, a keyboard has a lot of springs and pressure pads, not to mention the chips and ribbon cable that converts movement to digital signal. Saying keyboard issue was a bit too generic to answer.

I had my Acer fixed a broken cover hinge it cost me around $100 imagine the cost for a keyboard, since laptops are not made to be serviced by users I would content with an external keyboard.

hi it is not meant as sarcasm however the keyboard do bypass defective. yet you have reported the shortcoming of run.dll. i think this a undertaking with the working equipment and a reset may be the only answer which will lose all your very own records so download it in case you are able to to a dvd or cd rom first. then do a production unit default reset. swap off and then activate and while the blue banner looks press CTRL and F11 keys mutually and it will bypass right into a reformat and reload the working equipment.

there could be several reasons why the keyboard wont function ......i suggest your easy option will be to take it in to a reputable computer shop and ask for a estimate for repair - you may find it will cost more to repair than its worth ...
