I read in a book that men often marry women who look like their mothers. The book said that you learn what to like as a baby. The women you are around the most as a child become imprinted into your brain. When you grow up you subconsciously find women who look like them attractive. I want to ask those men who are married if their wives look like their mothers or sisters. This may work the same way for girls too. They may like guys who look like their father or brothers.

I'm about to be married to a man that is all the good qualities in my father (sense of humor ) but much more docile, tactful and affectionate, I guess I could see what I didn't want in a partner through my father as well as what I did what - but that would be the same as most female and male role models in my life.
I look nothing like his mother and neither does his brothers wife, although we do all have similar personalities, very independent, caring and we are all quite funny. I guess your personality develops as a child with the way you are brought up so if your mother is funny and open minded why would you go for someone that was all serious and closed off, since you are not like that yourself.
Also becasue I have some of my father and mothers qualities that I don't like I found someone to counter balance those. if we were the same we would clash and fight all the time.

that is just a theory, and it really does not hold true all the time. not all men are this way. and as far as women chosing a man based on her father, my dad was a short, blonde haired, ugly jackass. my man is tall, dark, and handsome. oh and sweet as honey.
