It's fizzing? I didn't know computer monitors were carbonated. :)
I think that the best thing to do would be to take it to a shop so that both your monitor and your video card can be properly checked.
If you have a CRT monitor, you can try doing this:
Turn off your computer and monitor and then disconnect the monitor cable. Turn the monitor back on. It should click on for a moment, then go into 'standby' mode. If there's buzzing, then the flyback transformer is probably shot. That part is the most expensive part in a CRT TV/monitor, next to the CRT itself.
You'll have to buy a new monitor. Computer techs aren't electronic technicians and a place that fixes TVs won't fix monitors because it's not worth it. A flyback transformer costs over $100 (CDN), then there's the labour cost...

A fizzing/buzzing sound doesnt sound healthy. Since its flickering you could have damaged the pins on the connector that goes to your graphics card. Cant get a new cord cause the cords are built into the monitor. I think your gona have to end up getting a new CRT monitor. Its no sense in trying to find out how to fix that issue but its best to get a new one.
Im a tech but I will not ever work on a monitor do to the voltage and amperage it packs. Monitors are a FRC (Field Replacement Unit). Buy a new one.

If it's an old type tube (CRT) monitor, it probably is dying. CRTs have high voltage (1000's of volts) components inside that can fail with age, causing sparking. This is especially the case if you live near the ocean where there is a lot of salt in the air which gets into electronics and corrodes the wiring.
I've had several old CRT monitors give up the ghost in the way you describe. No way to fix it, just get a new flat panel display.

Hi sounds like the it's on it's way out. You won't find many technicians that will repair a crt monitor. due to the voltages the capacitors store and the danger when discharging the capacitors. Think very large bangs and released with a screw driver:) It also has to be released over a few days. you can pick up a new monitor from 100 quid upwards and would cost you more to get a technician if you can find one :)

Check the plug if it was knocked out a wire may have come loose that will cause a fizzing/buzzing sound and make it flicker.

I would get a new one. Look in a free newspaper of your area there are always people giving away their old CRT screens as they have upgraded to flat TFT, it saves thema trip to the dump, just make sure it works before you get it home!

Sounds like the power lead has a loose wire.
TURN IT OFF!
Check out the cables and leads. If unrepairable, get new power cables.
Probably wise to get new cables anyway, just in case.
