and how do you perceive this phrase?

No, even if this phrase is wisdom, he was not Einstein saying that.
The reason of posting this Q was more to see how you perceive the meaning of this phrase, your personal views, not hear who hasn't said that. So, if you want you can edit your question.
I always reserve the right to be wrong in posting this Q under this section.

Tyro,
I apologize, but I don’t know what the Karl Marx assertion is, on this issue. Although I respect all the parties and all political ideas, and I am open for every discussion, the one mentioned does not represent my own, so I don’t know his views. On the other hand, EDUCATION IS JUST ONE of the key – issues in the environmental protection and sustainable development.
I absolutely agree that to raise awareness on environmental issues and establish a new modus operandi we must start teaching children at mother’s knee and school, not wait until the child becomes an adult in need.
I know that there are various efforts on this field from international and local NGO’s , but as you can see the result is poor…
On my opinion, this happens either because there is poor evaluation of the teaching result or – and this is the major issue – there isn't enough political support.

MsKnowltAll,
I agree, your answer is to the point. I'll post later the opinion of a personality well known, that confirms and completes our opinion.

J. Delors, one of the past Presidents of the European Union has told that:
“Poor people are between us and maybe tomorrow they will destabilize the society, causing our uncertainty. Don’t you believe that it is worthy to keep attention on this issue? Ιt’s an issue having an impact on our society, our policy, our economy and the cohesion of our society”.
This is the European dimension (consideration) of the problem that brings to the epicentre the human and not the procedure.

Before closing this long discourse, I’d like to address 2 more issues:
The one is relative to the Maslow pyramid, that has the bottom the human needs for food, home and safety. The other one confirms my personal thoughts and those of tyro’s, as well. The injustice and unworthiness of our times, worries me and brings to my mind the words of a contemporary writter: “These people whom we treat badly and prevent from following their wishes, whom we do not make sure are provided with a proper education, whom we embitter with our wrath, whom we go to any lengths to make submissive, these are the people who will raise the coming generation”.

Thank you all for your answers.

Maathai Wangari, 2004 Nobel Peace Prize-winning author, said that.

This is the way she explains it in an interview,

"For example, in certain regions of Kenya, women walk for miles to get firewood from the forests, as there are no trees left nearby. When fuel is in short supply, women have to walk further and further to find it. Hot meals are served less frequently, nutrition suffers, and hunger increases. If these women had enough resources they would not be depleting valuable forest."

I could paraphrase that by saying, If the belly is empty, so will be the mind!" Most people have very strong survival instinct, and will do "whatever it takes" to insure that they do survive. If you first satisfy a persons need for survival, they can then focus their attention on things that will insure that they never have a need for that worry again. Things like saving the environment.

Although I reject the assertion of Karl Marx,on this issue.I do think that if the poor where educated an given the tools they would better affect the environment.Such as the children's play-pumps that have been distributed in impoverished nations show that the activity of play, can pump water to the whole village without any coal or oil fired generators that will add to the green house gases. This also has an immediate affect the kids ,for they love to play on these play-pumps.This is just one example of earth friendly devices that our society's can adopt.
