Acrylic color. Just mix it with water.
Why dun you try with oil color? It's also good.

You can either use acrylics (transparent) ,or even oil colours with extra turpentine to give your paintings a watercolour effect. But you could even try painting with actual watercolours onto canvas, why not? Only try keeping the canvas slightly inclined (not upright ,as is usually done while painting oils)

Canvas is not used for water colours...
Use Acrylics or Oil Colours
Acrylics do have a water base, so that should be what you need.
Aquarelles... true water colours are used on different papers and boards.
You can chack at your art supply shop for the different varieties...
