Doesn't this scare you? It's like we're trying to fill an empty hole, buying things we don't need.

Buying things we don't need. . . that we can't afford. . . with money we don't have!

No, we don't stop to think about it. . .we're too busy watching the TV cesspool and what Brad Pitt and Angelina's baby does, and what Bill O'Reilly's putrid thoughts are, and Oprah's next condescending project. . .ALL paid for by Mastercard and Lexus and Kinkos!!

Your question should be posed as a "disclaimer" on every TV station and asked every hour of every day!

Yes, I do think about it a lot. It is very sad to see what has happened in the World, especially in the States, where people can't pass a few months without getting a new MP3 player or DVD, and base their life on what material things they will be getting next. Instead of working hard to achieve goals related to knowledge, perseverance and discovery, they work hard just to use their money on the newest gadget or gizmo available. Fortunately, this hasn't completely affected people in other countries, such as Argentina, where I live. People buy a TV and have it for several years, they don't need to change it unless it stops working. Instead of buying stuff, I recommend people to use that money to travel around the world and learn about other cultures.

i agree, i was watchin like access hollywood or something and it was talkin bout how one of the stars buys a pair of sunglasses for each outfit (like 1000$ ones) and im sittin here thinking what the hell, dont they know that money could be spent on people who are starving or on the streets, or just families struggling?!
if i was a star i would think of how others need that more than i do and start all kinds of helping shelters or something! just think if all those stars got together and really did something, there could be no homeless people and what not

It's all to do with keeping up with the Jones's and it's such a competetive greedy world. We all seem to be blind about what really makes you happy...Love...Nature...the best things in life are free.

I agree. It's sad that people spend all their time trying to accumulate more and more stuff instead of what's important. You can't take things with you when you die. People seem to think that material possessions are going to make them happy. It's really kind of sad actually.

It is called...keeping up with the Jones's. My parents only bought things that they needed and could afford. Today, it is charge this, charge that and some don't save any money for retirement.
