I got a tattoo over 3 years ago and it still drives me crazy itching sometimes. The yellow in it, and some of the black outline are kinda raised/puffy all the time, and really gets to itching me. I've put stuff on it, but nothing helps. It's completely healed, so I have no idea why it does that. Anyone know about this or what I can do about it? Thank you!

The area is not red or anything, and no broken skin.

According to the article at source url below, it could be an allergic reaction or due to the weather, body chemistry or skin conditions.
Logically speaking, I'd say it is scar tissue, which tends to itch, esp. when the weather is changing or very humid.
Hope that helps!

The one on my lower back is the same way, the more you scratch it the more it itches. I also get the raised, puffy outlines. I have several tattoos and my oldest one is the only one that itches. I believe it has something to do with the chemistry of the older inks. You probably have a mild allergic reaction, go see a dermatologist to see if they can offer you any medication for relief.

You may need to see a Dermatologist.....if everything you have tried still isn't working. How about Lanacaine ( cream)? It has medication in it to stop itching and to numb the area. It is over-the-counter and available at most local (USA) stores. Otherwise, you may have been allergic to some of the certain dye colors in your tattoo. They shouldn't itch after all this time, nor be puffy......speak with a doctor about it before you end up with a cellulitis or other reaction caused from the puffiness and itching.

It sounds like you're having an allergic reaction to the dye properties. It's actually more common than most people think. Go to a dermatologist (or even your primary care doctor) and they can give you a cream to relieve the symptoms. Usually your body works up a tolerance to the allergy and it corrects itself, but it's always good to get a doctors opinion!

Sounds to me like you are having an allergic reaction to the tat. Possibly the color ink since you mention the color yellow and black outline. Get it checked out.

All parts of the body will itch if there is scarring or irriatation.
If it is scarring you will be itching for life. Vitamin E Capsules will help the problem.
Just open the capsules and spread it on the area.
