I love looking at the stars. It is one of my favorite things to do. When I look at the stars I dream. I dream about how small our planet must be to such a vast universe and how much is out there that we don't even know about. There are other planets we can only guess about, other lifeforms, other beings. When it comes down to it looking at the stars gives me hope. When everything seems like it is all in 'black and white' 'right and wrong' I'm reminded that we here on earth are only one little, tiny, piece of the puzzle and our thoughts and feelings only mean something to us as people but could mean nothing to a whole other world out there. It is mesmerizing.

It is humbling. I think of how long it took the light from those stars to reach us. Think of this: the faintest object in the night sky that can be seen by the naked eye is the Andromeda Galaxy. It is 2.3 million light years distant, which means we see it as it actually was when our distant ancestors first picked up a piece of stone and deliberately worked it into some simple tool!
And that is the NEAREST galaxy. When I think of that, it makes me realize there is no God, at least not one that takes a special interest in humans. We are such insignificant specks of nothing in a universe that is 13 billion light years in any direction. That is awesome in the truest sense of the word.
An philosopher once said "The universe is to man as a giant wheel is to a fly on the outer rim; religion is the idea that the wheel was created for the fly."
I should add that I built an 8" reflector telescope and got a third of the way through the Messier Objects before I moved to hopelessly light polluted skies.
I just wish there was really a night sky for any but a priviledged few who live under dark skies. Most of us see nothing but a dull haze because of carelessly built, unnecessary and energy consuming city lights. Interestingly, studies have shown that crime INCREASES in well-lit areas!

The greatest thing i would really enjoy doing is to float between stars , somehow travelling through the frontiers of space.
When i look at the stars i feel at home , very much at home up there . The shine of the stars at night is a ray of hope .
When i consider how vast the universe and the galaxies are, i feel so puny ;and strangely i feel happy that iam a very tiny particle.
I hope most humans feel wonderful when they look up at the stars .
Its weird when people say they dont care about the stars.
I love the dark sky glimmering with stars which make me wonder what a strange and beautiful place our universe is and how little we know about it.
It makes me wonder , why do we humans love the stars ? Does it indicate that somehow we are aliens and once lived somewhere close , close to the stars ?? Why else do the stars look so beautiful and inviting to us? we belong there somewhere !(:

I used to enjoy looking at the stars. Now, I still enjoy it, but I catch myself instead looking for a moving star which turns out to be a satellite. Ever since the 9/11 attack, I can't help but look towards the skys expecting the worse/

When I look up , I feel and see the oneness in all. We are a part of the universe even though sometimes we don't feel it.
Sometimes I also think .. How does our earth look like from far away.. Is it visible that we are a Jewel in the cosmos?

IT makes me feel funny when i realise that some of the stars i see dont exist by the time the light from them has reached the earth.
I wonder if there are people on other planets somewhere looking out at the Sun too.

I look up and I think that I am seeing bits of left over big bang, and it makes me realise how insignificant this planet really is and I imagine it hanging in black space a little ball of blue that is earth with us all running around on it like so many ants thinking we are so important, when we are not.
