I have heard that there is a greater demand for SAS than for SAP. ( Just to give you an idea about what I am asking about. ) ( but I don't know anything more than that )

(pronounced as separate letters) Short for Serial Attached SCSI, an evolution of parallel SCSI into a point-to-point serial peripheral interface in which controllers are linked directly to disk drives. SAS is a performance improvement over traditional SCSI because SAS enables multiple devices (up to 128) of different sizes and types to be connected simultaneously with thinner and longer cables; its full-duplex signal transmission supports 3.0Gb/s. In addition, SAS drives can be hot-plugged.
In topologies with more than two connected devices, SAS calls for the use of expander devices to allow for more than one host to connect to more than one peripheral.

SAS devices can communicate with both SATA and SCSI devices (the backplanes of SAS devices are identical to SATA devices). A key difference between SCSI and SAS devices is the addition in SAS devices of two data ports, each of which resides in a different SAS domain. This enables complete failover redundancy as if one path fails, there is still communication along a separate and independent path.

SAS was an acronym for Statistical Analysis System. It has been trademarked by SAS Institute, Inc. and it now refers to the statistical software developed by SAS Institute.

SAP is another software developed by SAP AG, the third largest software company in the world. SAP AG is based in Germany.

Both SAS and SAP are designed to handle data processing. SAP acts more like data storage and management. For example, a large bank must be able to store and recall millions of names, account numbers, and account balances.

SAS, on the other hand, can better handle statistical analysis. Using the available data such as the age, account balances, and interest rate, SAS can be used to predict the likelihood of getting its money paid back after making loans to individuals (credit worthiness).

The information age has led to the creation of large data sets and the need to analyze them. Large business and even the federal governments are rushing to analyze their data. The increased need for statistical analysis has led to the demand for competent SAS programmers.
