I like to mix brands, and occasionally styles of clothing. I do not think that it is in bad fashion. When you read magazines and they tell you what the stars are wearing, or even when they put together outfits and give the details, rarely is it all from the same designer.

People who consider this to be bad fashion have way too much time on their hands!! To answer your question, no I dont think it is a fashion faux pas to mix designers. However, I'm not the kinda gal that would spend £1200 on a bag or £900 for a top so maybe I'm the wrong person to ask. Real fashionable people dont need designer labels or need to follow the trends set by these fashion houses who, quite frankly, usually have the most hideous clothes I've ever seen being sashayed down their catwalks. Be different and wear what you want and what you think looks good instead of what these designers tell you looks good. (I mean look at Donatella Versace - hardly someone you want to look like is it!)

In my opinion, I HATE it when people match their brands. It makes them look like someone dressed them.
I don't like brand name clothing, mainly because I can look at it and make it myself and save myself about 50$ or more. Minus the designer label of course. But why would I want to have someone's name across my chest or butt? It's tacky and I don't even consider myself a fashion guru.
If you mix them, I don't think it really matters. Unless the logo is written on them fairly large on both the pants and shirt then I'd see something wrong with it. But in that case, pick one over the other.

I try to match accessories and shoes.
If I have a designer handbag, I'll try to match sunglasses, jewlery and/or shoes.
Everything else is up for grabs.

I just reach in my closet and pull out whatever my hand happens to grab first.
