It's all economic and nothing to do with protecting the world from rogue states with nukes- look at N.Korea going scot free. The poor bastards don't have any oil so who cares right.
I for one would watch with interest and see whether the US actually invades Iran. It's not the smartest thing to do really, what with the US public finally wising up to the tactics of this administration. But who knows, folly knows no bounds.

I do not think it would be wise to invade Iran. I know they have the nuclear capabilities, but so do many others. They are probably in there helping the terrorists, but I just think that we are spread too thin. WE cannot take on the world, and the world needs to ban together and do some things to help with these kind of people. A lot of this is over oil, but if Iran does not have much money, then they will not be able to do much. We buy the gas and give them the money to buy weapons and give to the terrorists. It is a vicious circle. I think there has to be better planning, and also not playing into the enemies hands. I think we have to come up with alternate to gasoline - they have had different things, but did not pursue it, due to the gas companies being hurt. Maybe they will think twice now.

Amiko...
Perhaps you should have started at the beginning of that report that you guided everyone to. I think that the conclusion that you have drawn for everyone was a bit premature. It is actually a very interesting report. Thanks for the links. It just doesn't say what you are trying to get it to say. What it does say is that Cheney and Rumsfeld may have been right back then and now we are paying the price for all the cuts to the military under the Clinton Administration. Try reading it from the start. Don't just read that article, check out the whole website... It may wake a few people up.

And to answer the original question. I don't believe the United States is eager to invade Iran. What the US is eager for is the United Nations Security Council to quit placating the Iranians and bring some meaningful resolution to the crisis.
By the way, let me draw your attention to Happyman's response down below.. read his profile.. This is what we are up against in the world today. Barbarians who profess loving God on one hand and wishing death and destruction on the other. Keep it up folks... unless we unite and fight against people like Happyman together, we all will lose.

The true motive may well be hidden into the next century. The only plausible reason that comes to my mind is USA’s obsession with Oil & Gas
Look at the way Oil prices have bloated AFTER USA's occupation of Iraq-that too without any discernable shortage!!!!
The USA has all but lost it's supremacy in the manufacturing sector with exceptions of Arms and ammunition, and may be aircrafts. It is a huge consumerist society and needs money to sustain itself.
The US government, hand in glove with the oil industry tycoons is hell bent to control all major oil sources- any and all who don't toe the line are liable to be persecuted, attacked and occupied.
In short, the incumbent US government is a bunch of highly placed barbarians and profiteers who'll go to any externt to get what they want without any care for international laws or humane feelings.
The UN? what's it but a mouthpiece of the USA? It gets any bill passed and vetoes any it doesnt like. If any bill not to the USA's liking does get thru, it simply ignores it. It has got so brazen that it calls it's own views 'International Community'.
Nor has the USA paid its dues to the UN for many years

I think dick cheney, rumsfeld, etc. wrote it best in their very own report titled "Project for the New American Century" (written all the way back in 2000 in fact) Makes it pretty clear why not only 9/11 happened, but why we are suddenly creating this patriotic ferver with the notion of a war on terrorism.. Links below if you are interested to know what the good ol' boys have been writing..

S. and the yank people.we've a precise to guard ourselves and we did.Too undesirable and so unhappy for the commies on the island.the people of Grenada welcomed people as liberators. And who cares approximately international regulation. Why ruin the astonishing thing relating to the element with legalities?

To control the whole Arab region. The only countries against the US now are Syria and Iran so if he invades those two the whole area will be in his hands. The other Arab countries have close ties with him.
