I just don't get him,i don't think he is funny at all

He's one of these people who think he's the best comedian out there but i think there is not one bit of humour in his programmes.
He's just milking his cash cow for as long as he can.

Try watching his standup dvds. He shows his natural humour a lot more in these. He has a real sarcastic approach to a lot of his topics. The sitcoms he makes are designed to be people we squirm at. David Brent can only be found funny if you feel awkward and embarrassed for him, or if you have met one simliar in real life. Extras is made funny by the way hge bounces his character off Ashley Jenkins, she makes the cringeworthy comments and he has to stumble through it. I find him funny, my girlfriend doesn't get him, but she did laugh at the standup.

I'm with you. I think HE thinks he's funny and thousands of people just go along with that because they are slightly deranged. I'd put him in the same category as Alan Partridge... I just don't get him either, although he is more inane than Mr. Gervais!

i suggest getting hold of the politics or the animals stand up dvd and watch the special features it shows ricky as his natural self and he is the funniest man on the planet.

Yes, he is very clever, and picks up on social awkwardness, but some of his sketches aren't very funny, particuarly in Extras

i didnt really like the office much but i saw his politics show and my sides were hurting and eyes watering afterwards
