I presume Turkey as a potential leader of Middle East. Being the grand-children of Ottoman people , they have a large vision& understanding of the territory. With the powerful allies ( oil leaders in the region ) She is a near-future alternative for USA in Far East & Middle East..Islam ,the hidden power of Turks, is revealing due to tendence of citizens to wish of a life with more justice

Far as I know Turkey has been an Islamic nation since the time of the Ottoman Empire.

I suspect the revival could be a reaction to world events of today. However I don't think Turkey has ever stopped being Islamic.

Religion in general is such that at some point or another individuals, or groups experience an intenisfied desire to identify with their religion. It happens with christianity as well, whereby a wave of evangelism can sweep through a country or region. The dominant religion in Turkey is Islam, and it would be wrong to imagine that just because many are moderate in culture, or because of their classification as being part of Europe, that they are much different from other muslim countries.
Islamic revival is not synonymous with fanaticism and one hopes that extremism will not take root in Turkey.

Islams clerics have moved in with a vengence and vowed death to those who seek to understand the western ways of life. The turks will not adopt western culture to the detrement of Islam, they only wish to understand western culture and its life and live side by side with it. Islams fanatics disavowing any tolerence of any non muslim way(s) of life
