Living just for tomorrow
Is but a fool's estate
Where so prompt is sorrow,
Joy always one day's wait.

yup! it's always preparing for tomorrow and being anxious about it. In effect you are not living the moment and will never be happy as you continue to run after what is yet to happen and missing out on the joy of the the things that are already presently unfolding.

joe b, looks good so far, but can you add two more quatrains ? If you can be sure to keep the a b, a b format.

Your poem, to me, is saying you should live for today.
Yesterday is gone and tomorrow may never come.
So experience the joys of life today.

Yes. It means to me that you are taking life easy, and while there is ample opportunity to complain, you realize that joy always close at hand.

The first and last lines don't scan.
Remove "just" from the first line, and add "is" between Joy and Always. Better?

yeah, to me it means you have to look to the future and not just a day ahead to make your life worth living, and to remember when you're sad that happiness is never too far away.

I think so. We should always be prepared for tommorows cos we don't know what would happen tommorow. Keep the faith and choose our own destiny.

Yes it does. Bad times seem to happen quickly, good times don't. "Good things happen to those who wait."
