The hormone in the blood HCG is what causes the stick to turn blue or say positive and if you are only just pregnant it may be low enough that its not reading be sure to take the pregnancy test first thing in the morning after about 6 hours of sleeping without urinating and that can help get the levels of HCG higher but generally before 8 weeks the tests can be kinda inaccurate until the level goes up I took a test at 5 weeks it was negative twice took on at 8 weeks and it was positive so the best thing is the blood test and usually they can get your blood test results within a day if you tell them you want to have a blood test to see if you are pregnant they have to do as you request....also if you are under stress dehydrated have been exercising excessively that can cause Amenoria (which is the stoppage of your period) so make sure to take good care of your self as if you are pregnant that way if you are then you are taking all the precautions and MOST OF ALL RELAX!!!!! If you are freaking out that's stress honey and that will do it to anyone!

Sometimes it can be because the pregnancy hormone that is in your blood is so low that a regular pregnancy test can't read it yet. A blood test is always the best way to find out for sure. I had an experience like that. I started missing my period in March and took 9 pregnancy tests before I finally got a positive one in June. I was pregnant the whole time. Well good luck.

A pregnancy test will only work once your period is late- could that be why? Some people also just have naturally lower levels of the hormones they test for, and so they won't show, it's nothing to worry about. Good luck, I hope you get the answer you are waiting for.

Without any more than this to go by how could anyone know?

Sometimes the HCG is so low that the tests won't pick it up is the best I can do.

Wait for the blood work and then maybe you will have a clearer picture.

What you need to do is monitor your periods, write down the date they start. To calculate when you are likely to get pregnant you need to know when you ovulate. It varies but usually its 14 days after your last period and you have 3 days in which to become pregnant.

If the doctors test confirms you don't ovulate then he will advise you on what to do next. Being 20 unless you have polycycstic ovaries or other problems the chances are you will get pregnant soon

the only way a pregnancy test would read falsely is in the first week after ovulation or that period of the first week of pregancy..however if it reads positive its positive, if its false after many tries than you should she the doctor..i think you did the right thing

because the hormone isn't high enough for the pregnancy test to pick it up yet. that's why doctors sometimes do blood tests to get an accurate result.

Maybe you have other problems. Didn't your doctor seem concerned? Wait another month and if it does not start by then, make another doctor's appointment. Just because you missed your period, you may not be pregnant. There are other reasons.

If it reads false, then you must not be pregnant. There could be other reasons your period is late....like stress, weight gain/loss, etc.

I have never heard of waiting a week for a bloodtest, mine only takes a day.
