I had that same situation, my best friend and i face the same comments by people. we have such an open relationship that we actually talk about it and what people say because i had that same worry that it would interfere with a friendship. just talk to her and you guys need to not ignore the situation but find out where each of you stands so you both know, and that you both know that your friendship is bigger than what people say or think..... bottom line, people suck, and you should be as open with each other as you can. i mean, if everyone else is talking about it, you might as well talk about it in an open way..... that won't shut people up, but it'll make your friendship feel stronger.... hope this helps.

Before, I used to have the same platonic relationship with a very close friend I have in college. Our peers are always cheering up for both of us to get married!!! haha.........but both of us know better. We are very good together- as friends -not as lovers. Now, I haven't seen him in like a decade! but he emails me sometimes, we are still keeping in touch. Maybe in your case, do not force yourself to love a person - romantic wise just because everyone says so. It's better if time would tell- if the feelings blossom then by all means pursue her! but if not both of you have a friend for keeps- it's a win-win situation, rather than act prematurely.

Be yourselves and continue being friend's. Sometimes when we have a relationship with a best friend, It doesnt work out, and you might even end a friendship. Think about it.

I deffintly agree with "yee haw". I know I'm not answering your question, but I figured it'd help to know somebody else agrees on the same thing so it makes you feel better about rather or not making that decision, right? Well, good luck. :)
