Don't have two anti viruses running at the same time. Remove Norton.
Trojans and viruses are different programs. AVG is an anti virus and won't remove trojans. You need Ewido anti trojan to do that.
The viruses may be re-installing themselves.
Before attempting to remove malware you must switch off System Restore as back up files will be hiding in there, and it will just restore itself. Go to Start - programs - accessories - system tools - system restore.
Run Avast and Ewido in Safe Mode. To get into Safe Mode repeatedly press the F8 key after the bios screen loads but before Windows loads. You'll know if you made it because the screen will be at 800 x 600 and your pc will be slow.
Then beef up your security. Its easier to prevent malware getting on to your sytem in the first place rather than trying to remove it.
The Windows firewall doesn't stop malware on your pc from dialling out. Either of these firewalls are free for personal use and stop unwanted incoming and outgoing traffic. You choose which programs are allowed to access the internet. They are both fairly easy to use and updated regularly.

Instal both these web browsers, turn off javascript on one and use that browser for vising unknown websites. They don't support Active X so thats one less way for problems to get on your pc.

I would first uninstall Norton if you are using AVG as it is possible for virus scanners to detect each other causing viruses to show where there is none.
AVG can not heal files that are stored in a compressed format however if you can't heal them you can remove them into the virus fault. Then if every thing is just fine then empty the virus fault. To remove a file into the virus fault right click on the file report and click remove. (Its been a while since I had to do this is I may be wrong about how to remove a file but its easy to do)

I agree with some of the other answers you have received. I also use AVG it's the best I have come across, you need to set it up so it auto updates just right click on the update manager box to do this, this ensures you have all the priority update downloads.
I run along side my AVG a spy ware package called super anti spy ware it's free search for it on google, this works fantastic with AVG no system speed loss like Norton! you need to have a spyware blocker / protector as well as anti virus as they detect different things. I have only twice in the last two years had a virus that AVG couldn't remove I used ewido again it's free on these two occasions just to deal with that Trojan don't pay for it just keep a link on your desktop and use the free scan.
These will sort ANY spyware / virus you encounter.
I used to get them all the time.
NOW I DON'T
Enjoy

I used to use AVG it very good at recognising new viruses and as far as I can remember it will heal most but some take longer until they resolve the problems others are irrepaireable with out re loading your sytem files.
Grisoft who make AVG have a good response attitude if you email them giiving thefull details I am sure they will help you.

The usual reason is the virus is in System Restore.
Go to "Start" > "Accessories" > "System Tools" > "System Restore". Click the link that says "settings" and you will see a box which if you tick it will turn the monitoring off. Now.....
Go into Safe Mode (keep pressing "F8" on reboot) and run AVG again. Reboot into standard windows, if the infection has gone you can turn on System Restore again. You can also run a live scanner, Panda Software, is my favourite, if it is not a virus but a trojan it wont cure it but it may well tell you how to manually get rid of it.

I had Norton installed once as well got to this site bellow, its free. It found 12 viruses still active when Norton found none. I would recommend getting rid of Norton altogether and install avast home edition for free. http://www.windowsecurity.com/trojanscan/trojanscan.asp
http://avast.com/
Click on avast! 4 home ; This is the free version all you need to do is register

I used a free download for Adaware removal from "LAVASOFT" called AD-AWARE SE Personal, it worked and was free!!!!

Get Ad Aware also and update that and run it.
I have avg & ad aware and my pc is fine.
Wouldn't recommend NTL NETGUARD to anyone. Alot of people i know had this and it wouldn't detect viruses let alone heal or remove them. Then they wondered why their pc was acting odd till they installed AVG & AD AWARE
