heard a new word for the first time and then start to hear it all over the place

We tend to be alert to the familiar. I've often had students tell me that once they learned a concept in my class, they found that it was mentioned everywhere. They realized that in the past they had just skipped over things they didn't understand, but once it made sense to them, they became aware of it every time they saw it.

no.... but i bought a car that i thought i didnt see often... until i started driving it and started seeing that all over the place!!!
