Depends what you mean by soundtrack. If you're talking about songs as in musicals then I'd go with some of the others and say Grease.

But if you're talking about soundtracks as in artist playing music as a backdrop to the movie then thats harder.

Star Wars has a great score and a driving recurring theme in it. Forest Gump had an excellent choice of 60s anthology in it. The Warriors maybe.

Well, it's a subjective question but, for me, I would have to say that the Star Wars movies have the best soundtrack ever.

1957. The first movie to have electronically synthesized music.

Edit: I take that back. Forbidden Planet was good, but the Blues Brothers rocks!

No, wait! West Side Story was absolutely the best. A modern operatic classic.

Ok, don't laugh, but I'd have to say the Forest Gump soundtrack and the A Walk to Remember soundtrack.

Absolutely fantastic soundtrack that makes the film

My favorite two are;

"A Kind of Magic" by Queen, which is basically the soundtrack to "Highlander."

"Terminal City Riccochet," which is rolling good punk rock compilation on Alternative Tenticles Records for a movie which only saw limited release in Canada.
