Booker T. Washington was a black man, born in 1856 as a slave. In 1881 he was named the first leader of the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama.

He was one of the most respected black educators in the United States at a time when many white people believed black people were not only inferior, but subhuman.

All of these facts can be found in Wikipedia. Along with a lot more. Hope this is short enough and key enough for your use.

Good luck on your research project and do check out Wikipedia.

I think he is African American. My son has a Booker T Washington commemorative coin in his coin collection that was given to him 30 some years ago. He invented ice cream and I think he did a lot of great things but I don't feel I should go into a long summary.

Booker T. Washington championed the case of blacks being in the service industries(waiters, bellhops, brick masons,& carpenters). He also founded Tuskegee University(formerly Tuskegee Institute) in Tuskegee Alabama. You can listen

I believe he was instrumental in the founding of Tuskeegee Institute .
And to the gentlman who responded "he cultivated and produced many things from peanuts" - that would be scientist George Washington Carver. (A little bit of knowledge can be a dangerous thing!) And as the other gentlman suggested - do a web search.

He was a black scientist that contributed a lot to humanity. He was most famous for cultivating many products from the peanut.

By the way you are wasting our time by expecting this forum to do your research...and have the nerve to be picky in doing so.
