There must be well-known celebrities and charity workers in America who are famous but did not SEEK to become celebrities, but got noteriety through doing good, honest things for their community.

In Australia, we only get self-absorbed, stupid American celebrities like Paris Hilton...there must be honest, hard-working Americans out there who didn't ask to be famous....

You wouldn't know them if I told you their name. Do you want a short synopsis of such an American? It would still be prohibitively long for this forum. Or do you want the name of a "celebrity" who we can all identify? Well we know from scientific data that celebrities rate much higher in studies of narcissistic disorders, so that's kind of unfair as an example. Are you genuinely interested in something that can't be answered or do you have an immodest motive?

Nurses, teachers, stay-at-home parents, soldiers. . . It's hard to name names because part of being humble and quiet-achieving means not necessarily getting your name in any papers.

Sounds like you might be generalising a bit mate. I am sure like any culture there are probably many, but if they are humble we would never hear about them, thats what makes them humble.
