I got an expensive gold chain from my partner for my last birthday.He is the love of my life.

I got a surprise from my current gf, at that time we werent going out. Custom made cake with a feller that symbolizes me n a few phrases which i use - n a few my good good friends.
Got her a bunch of flowers - a moonstone n Blue Sapphire Pendant - put in a heart shaped box, n typed out little sayings - 50 of them on A4 sheet - cut each of the 50 phrases and crumbled them n used as packing for the pendant box in the heart shaped box.
Good luck or encouraging card with flowers - card was personalized - as if it was a show of various quotations - narrated by me. didnt put my name - but she guessed it anyhow cos no one would be that crazy it seems. Got quotes on Fear of Speaking, overcoming fear, Going ahead, and encouragement, from quite a lot of websites.
Likewise - you can go for general stuff, or you can think a bit, make the gift slightly personalized or a item that you think will be with that person for a long time and will come into contact with the person more often - that way your gift will be remembered and treasured.
