Though Miami is mainly Hispanic, that isn't a reason to not come and live here--unless you don't like Hispanics.
The city currently has over two million citizens, with a vast majority being Hispanics or of Hispanic background.
The manners of the people range in parts of the city. Like every place you visit, you're bound to find very nice and helpful people, as well as very rude people.
Miami has reached a point where it is associated with Hollywood and celebrities, which is why the prices of houses, etc, have skyrocketed. A typical home in Miami (2b/2b) ranges from $250,000 to over a million. Depending where you want to live. That doesn't mean you won't find a very cheap place to live in, a lot of those exist.
If you want to experience diversity, a new culture, and a new way of life, I suggest you move to Miami. In Miami alone over 80 languages are spoken, we're a very important icon when it comes to diversity.
Schools (if you have kids), are very good. Public schools in Miami have been named among the top schools in the country. Over 75 schools (elem., middle and high school) exist. Higher learning schools (such as FIU, UM, Miami-Dade Community College) have all been named as top schools in the country. FIU currently has a law school and will soon be opening a medical school on campus. UM is known as one of the best medical schools as well.
Crime is not a big problem, it doesn't mean that it doesn't happen. Every area has it's own crime rate. Coral Gables has less, but Overtown has the most.
Miami has become a very large metropolitan city, a lot of activites go on daily, and its just a perfect place to live. Nice weather, nice beaches, nice places (rest., nightclubs, malls), and nice houses/neighborhoods.

Im not going to give you statistics, but based on my opinion. I just came back from Miami (Native New Yorker) and i can tell you that looking for a job is really hard. BUT it's also based on what your experience is. If you have the stuff to prove that you can out win someone in South Florida then you can give it a shot. Miami is nice, but it depends where (just like any other place in the world). Weather wise it's amazing, even though at times you can sweat alot. So expect to be drinking more water, slower pace of life, but just less money. Good Luck

Yes, if you have a job already waiting for you that pays 60,000 a year. Cost of living is very high and to find a place to live they will put you on a waiting list because it's so over populated that it's hard to find a place to live. And hard to find a job because that same job you're applying for about 100 people already filled out for that job. Leave home an hour before you go anywhere because traffic is so bad...Miami is just over populated! People from all over the world come here to live especially Hispanic people. Every where you go they expect you to speak Spanish. Like really? Lol So if you have good income and you're Hispanic than its a yes for you.

Miami is one of the most used vacation places and with hotelbye you will find out more. Miami has anything for all; from the stylish nightlife of South Beach, bejeweled by a person's eye candy of the Art Deco district as much as the bustle of Calle Ocho and the highly caffeinated energy of Little Havana. The Art Deco District provides right back memories of a youthful time in Florida with its beautifully restored 1930s Art Deco buildings and is just a place well visited the same as Bayside Marketplace. This place is a large outdoor model mall with an increase of than 150 niche and tourist shops, numerous bars and restaurants, and everyday stay entertainment.

I think anyone who has lived here can agree that what makes Miami bad is the rude attitude of drivers. Everyday I feel as though someone is trying to ram me off of the road. You won't believe how many people here should have their licenses removed. But the fact is you wont be in a wreck if you know how to drive.
I have lived in Miami all of my life and there are nice people here. Occasionally you will see someone help a random old man or help someone with their groceries. From what I have experienced most people don't just walk by when someone is dying or involved in an accident. Lots of people will randomly begin talking with you and you will even see most people will open the door for someone behind them.

I live in Miami and I don't like it here. Miami is a Hispanic melting pot. People from all over south and central America come here and that makes the grand population here. I would say 80% of the population speaks spanish.
About it being friendly, no. Miami has been voted the rudest city in America. Miami a very large city so the traffic is unbearable at times. Still better than Los Angeles but not by far. Plus prices for homes are very high. A 3 bedroom 2 bath in an ok neighborhood is about $350,000.
Crime is there. Depending on where you there is more or less crime. Coral Gables is a city that has less crime but it is an expensive city. Kendall is nice too but there a good bit of crime, as in every big city.

When I was considering moving to Florida from out of state, I took 10 days one year to visit the Miami side of Florida (Atlantic side, east coast) and 10 days visiting the Tampa side/west coast.
I did not like the Miami side at all. It is muggier there, more plastic and artificial to me. The Gulf side (west coast) was less crowded, more affordable and has gorgeous beaches. Most of the beaches in Florida are nice, though, no matter what side of the state you are on. You couldn't pay me to live in Miami, though. It seems to have all the disadvantages of a large urban environment with not as many of the benefits as other cities.

All I can tell you is that if you are considering Miami as an option...you will feel like you are in South America. Not to many people from up north over here.
it is a city that has a night life in South Beach but be prepared to pay expensive cover.
Also no major concert or cultural events happen here...unless it is a popular south american artist.
No for transportation...you will need a car! Public transportation sucks!
