We're teetering on the edge right now. Most of the Bill of Rights have already been tossed out, and we have elected officials proudly admitting to violating federal law and expecting to get away with it.

And people saying that we need to blindly follow our leaders, without question or complaint, no matter what crimes they commit.

Both of the current parties are doing nothing but preserving the status quo, making government larger and larger, more and more powerful, and stripping away person freedoms every chance they get. Both the Democrats and the Republicans do the same thing, though the current administration has crossed over into actual criminal activity.

Time for a change. We need to dump both the Democrats and the Republicans and clean the slate. Elect a Congress that will do their jobs, and a president who actually respects the law. Neither major party has offered either of those for quite a while now.

Time for a change. Think independently. Vote Libertarian.

{EDIT to ZakD} Fascism = a right-wing authoritarian hierarchical government, opposed to democracy or liberalism.

As it is proven from time to time, some are, infact not ignorant to what is really going on. Some real good answers.

As an American, I would not lightly call my government such a label unless I really knew it to be FACT.

A recent definition:

Merriam-Webster defines fascism as "a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition"

It does calll for debate. We are up in the air. Not all the pieces are their yet. We seem to be a new ideology....a quasi-facist regime.

CORAGRYPH seems to always have a great answer. I think he says it best on this one.

At the way things are going now, it's a definite yes. Our country is slowly evolving from a democracy into a fascist state. We are slowly, but surely giving up our liberties in this post-9/11 world. This is the new reality, folks!

Truly absurd !

IF THE US WAS SO HEADED, there would be indicators.

The very fact that this president is labeled a monkey (YES, unbelievable but true) or an idiot, ON PUBLIC AIRWAVES YET, and on and on and on and on, is the best indicator that the supposed scenario is morbid fancy and nothing more.

Now for those who care about history all you have to do is find refs to real FASCISM current and past.

And for those who have never resided in countries other than US I could offer two recent examples, which tell a lot about relative FREEDOM of speech.

The Italian president ten years ago was critized by a left wing lower legislative chamber for his preachy-nosey tones and accused him politely enough being just another blathering politician. Goodness !!! the next day calls for prosecutions for "offenses to the dignity of the chief of state" rained on this men's head, not from the indifferent public, but FROM MEMBERS of the same house, and a few even of his own party !!!.

Next example is another unnamed country in which even oblique critiques are taken as a criminal offense and handled. By handle I mean not by the courts.

Americans are such whiney babies, really !.

I apologize, but I believe I have the moral right to say so, as a naturalized US citizen since 1981, and a taxpayer since 1971.

This is where we are going in America. While we fight each other in the smoke of 9/11 and The War on Terror, a future designed and engineered by our government is taking shape. Individual freedoms surrendered gratefully for continued "protection" from our government. A future where obedience to the government rewarded and opposition ridiculed and crushed. This is your New World Order.

"Through demoralizing and fracturing the body politic, they can impose their will using psychological warfare and the political alchemy of the Hegelian dialectic"

p.s in case that lost ya: Dubya Aint So Dumb

GW Bush was and is a member of the Yale based Skull and Bones secret, elist society. He has spoken about and is an advocate for the NWO or New World Order. With a bit of research you will find that Skull and bones members are decendants of the wealthiest/most influential families in America. They practice the ideas of the Hegelian Dialectic-- THESIS versus ANTI-THESIS -- to create a pre-determined SYNTHESIS.

example: Democrat vs. Republican parties feud until the State is the Absolute power = NWO.

I don't believe that fascism is the right term. Fascism stands for fighting for old values, for one ethnic group. Many old republicans regard the neoconservatives as liberals disguised as conservatives. Neoconservatives try to get worldpeace, want freedom and democracy for all people. This sounds more like stalinism to me: using extreme violence to destroy all opposition to a worldorder where everybody is equal.

The treatment of muslims by Americans and stalinists has a similarity. Both used tactics of violating religious principles in order to break resistance. America by flushing Qurans through the toilets and by torturing an islamic fundamentalist by presenting a naked prostitute in front of his face. The stalinists turned mosques into pig-farms, wine tasting rooms, brothels, or a club where you can eat pork, drink wine and watch naked ladies dance.

Yes in a lot of ways it does look that way. I sure hope not. But from what I've read about all the great nations of the world in the past they all have fallen. And none have lasted more than a little over 200 years. You'd think we'd learn from the mistakes of others but seems we are destined to repeat history.

It seems like it will be earlier. Our freedoms are slowly being taken away in the name of security. Land of the free? Free to do what the government wants you to do. The worst thing about it is that many people don't know that they have rights, that they have to do what any authority figure tells them to do. These mindless sheep keep following the shepherd blindly. I don't know if it is ignorance or apathy that makes them this way. God help us.

with a little more harassment from Muslim terrorists, a lot of western countries are going to "remember" their fascist, racist and antisemitic background, and this time it won't be the Jews who will be attacked. Muslim countries, on the other hand, don't need to regress to racism, they are already there.
