Really Need a Glasses !?

i have a friend who just came from China , he's exchange student , unfortunately he just lost his eye glasses at airport , we're short of money right now , the school just start , he have to pay for bus pass , school supply , house rental, and show many material things and fee.....now he is living with me and he's really need the eye glasses ,he's does't have insurant yet, any one here know where can he get an eye exam or eye glasses for cheap? or how can he get a health plan or insurent ? we are living in Portalnd , Oregon,i am very very appreciate who can help us , any help , any !

The Lion's clubs will probably help, but finding a phone number may be tough (service clubs don't generally have phone numbers). But check the Oregonian and see if they list when/where the Lions meet (should be a local restaurant once a week) and then see if he can be there. But this may take more time than you have if he's going to school daily.

You might run by the Salvation Army and Goodwill, as well as any Hospice thriftshops. They generally have glasses and he would have to hope trial and error would get him a pair that will work, short term. Even reading glasses would probably help a little. He can also ask the Chinese consulate if they have a way to help him out, especially since eye care is a government program in China. You're probably his host family but the advisor for the exchange program may have ideas to help out too - and don't forget the school nurse and/or councelors at school.

The college of "optical studies " offers very cheap everything.
Its like "School" for the eye doctors. Check the medical schools in the area. Good luck.

call your local lions club and ask if they know how to get him glasses, the Lions collect old pairs of glasses and fix them to give to the poor.

I know in Michigan we have Co/Op optical.
