Check if u have signed a contract when u joined your present company which may have a clause that forbids u from joining a competitor for a certain period of time. Some companies have these contracts and some dont.

Unless you have a contract saying that you cannot, you can take a job with anyone you please. There is never any excuse for being treated disrespectfully by an employer.

Depends, do you have a "no compete" clause in your contract
with your present employers??? If so, you can't legally work
for the competition until the clause runs out (they usually have
a set time written in) But if you don't have a work contract with
them, then do what you want.

On purpose?- yes. Because you need a job?- no. It all depends on your principals & what your motives are.
