i understand that speed is always backward compatible which means i can use an AGP 8x card but what about the voltage of the AGP 8x cards?

which AGP card use 1.5v? i'm confused, help is appreciated

Luckily there is a easy way to distinguish a 1.5V card from a non-1.5V card. The bottom of the connector that goes into the AGP slot is keyed differently. An incompatible card will look like the picture below:

Notice that the bottom connector has only one notch. A compatible card will have a connector like the one below:

Only accepts and runs video cards at 1.5 volts. Some older ones took higher voltage and it will burn up the motherboard or video card or both.

Some newer ones - 256MB - can run off the 1.5 volts AND connect to the power supply for addition voltage.

It means if you put a video card in it with a higher voltage you will burn out your agp slot and possibley the video card

IT MEANS 1.5 VOLTS ONLY
