Selfishness
Let's see,
Food, healthcare, babysitters, room and board...FREE!
Getting one over on mom and dad...PRICELESS!
Got to grow up to be a good role model.

I don't know where Stephanie N. got her information, but it doesn't matter under what circumstances a woman gets pregnant, planned or not, a man will have to pay child support if it's proven that he's the father. I work in Child Support Enforcement and a man can scream he "was trapped" until he's blue in the face and he will still owe child support until the child is 18 or longer if the child goes to college. Also, there's no such thing as "signing his parental rights away" to prevent paying child support. The only thing that will sever parental rights is adoption. This would be if both parents give the child up for adoption or the mother (or father) remarry and the new spouse adopts the child. Most of the young girls I see who have babies on purpose just want a new toy, kind of like getting a new puppy. They find out quickly that a newborn is a tremendous amount of work and not a "toy" at all. In these situations, I feel very sorry for the baby.

While this doesn't apply to teenage pregnancy or single mothers, occasionally a woman is desperate and thinks the guy will support her or pay child support. She is usually in her twenties and from a rich background. Maybe Daddy is threatening to cut her off since she has no job and no education. I mean, it is not like she is doing anything...
I am not against housewives. Those women WANT to be at home. This type has money. I would say that if in court a man can actually prove that she deliberately went behind his back to get pregnant to get money from him, he shouldn't have to pay. This is sad for the child. I know of one case where I believe the father signed away his parental rights through his lawyer to avoid paying child support. I know you will feel sorry for the child, but for the two years after he was born, his father ignored him and then walked out. He has his grandparents and well, his mother is another story, but it is her life. Maybe she will turn herself around and maybe she has. I don't know. I had the impression she made a deal with him to sleep with him behind her new boyfriend's back for child support.

Most women who have more than two kids by more than two different fathers have the mentality that they don't need a man in their lives to be a good parent. I think that we as a society have exalted women who have kids without being married but have not given the same respect to fathers. Primarely because their is a majority of men who aren't involved. So one's that are involved are looked at as just doing their part. Women see that this is more acceptable and that they have no responsibility to their environment to lesson the financial burden of their society.
Or they just are so self obsorbed that they would rather run the risk of having un protected sex and getting pregnant than to dull the sensation of penitration with a condom. Their should be a law that makes the women that can't afford kids without assistance, get their tubes tied.

They want love and attention, to feel important and essential. They think they will get that from having a baby to cuddle and play with. They don't get it that those are things you give to your child, you don't take from them. They don't comprehend just how complicated or demanding it is to raise a child. They think of a baby as a cute little person they can dress up and have everyone look and oooh and aaah, how precious over. There's nothing in their fantasy about the baby throwing up on its cute little outfit or breaking out in an itchy rash from a sensitivity to fabric softener.
