Nope, there is no physical wear and tear on a CD like there was with phonograph records, magnetic tape cassettes and VHS videotapes. After I'd watched my video tape of The Life of Brian about 500 times the quality was ratshit; speckles and frames dropping out and sound quality deteriorating. A CD is read with a laser beam, so there's no friction to damage it. The only damage occurs with handling it, rubbing the surface, getting grease and dirt on it and washing it with solvents that damage the plastic. But even then, unlike phonograph records and magnetic tape, there's a complex system of redundancy built into a CD. The information that produces the picture or sound is stored in more than one place. You can drill a small hole in a CD without any noticeable degradation of playback quality. If you store CDs in a dark place and don't mishandle them, they'll last indefinitely.

A CD(R) or DVD(R) data Once written and the session is closed, then the data is permanent unless some physical damage to the CD(R) or DVD(R) occurs. Sometimes dust gets collected on the disks when they are stored and not put into use and this dust may create I/O problems, for this simply wash the disk in cold running water for about 2 minutes and dry it by shaking and do not wipe the disk.

Yes.. the wear out a lot faster than originally told. Some in as little as 5 years. Dirt, LIGHT and scratches speeds this process up.

Nope, if kept in good condition, everything will be cool. Problems may occur with excessive use, scratches and storing it in heated or cold areas. Check this:
