If your storing the vehicle for a period of time, I would remove the battery for safety reasons and store off the floor on a trickle charger. Then plug the block heater in if its going to be stored in cold weather. That should be enough if its not going to be stored for more than a month or two. I'm a diesel mechanic.

If your diesel car is not used for a couple of days, have someone starts the engine daily if possible, that is to preserve the charged battery. If no one can do it since you are away, detach and take out the battery and store in appropriate place. make sure the battery terminals are not corroded and should be cleaned. battery water/electrolyte level should be checked also.

TO MAINTAIN DIESEL CAR ENGINE NECESSARY TO DRIVE FOR ATLEAST 100KM PER DAY . OTHERWISE THE ENGINE EFFICIENCY BECOMES REDUCING.
ANOTHER SUGGESTION IF ANYONE IS FREQUENT TRIP MORETHAN 100 KM A DAY THEY CAN PREFER DIESEL ENGINE CAR - MOST PREFERABLE.
FOR BATTERY DAILY RUNNING CAR NONEED OF THIS TIP OTHER WISE KINDLY FOLLOW THIS TIPS TO MAINTAIN EFFICIENCY OF YOUR BATTERY LIFE-
*DAILY START THE ENGINE FOR 7 MINUTES TO FUNCTION THEN , MONTHLY ONCE CLEAN THE BATTERY INTERCONNECTED WIRES WITH HOT WATER TO OVERCOME FROM RUST. AND TWO MONTH ONCE GET A REGULAR CHECK UP FROM YOUR DEALER OR FROM MACHANIC SERVICE CENTRE.
