NASSAU, Bahamas — Medical personnel applied CPR and other lifesaving measures on Anna Nicole Smith's son Daniel for 22 minutes before he was pronounced dead, the head of the hospital said Tuesday. But there was no official word on what caused the death.
Police say the reality TV star and former Playboy playmate found Daniel Smith, 20, unresponsive Sunday morning in a chair in her hospital room, where she was recuperating from giving birth to a baby girl three days earlier, and called for help.
Police said they had no evidence that Daniel Smith had suffered a heart attack or that drugs were involved.
"Resuscitative efforts using advanced life-support protocol continued for 22 minutes without response," said Barry Rassin, president and CEO of Doctors Hospital in Nassau, at a news conference.
Daniel Smith, 20, had arrived at the hospital late Saturday to visit his mother, and Rassin said hospital employees saw him "attending to his mother's comfort" during the night.
Dr. Hubert Minnis, obstetrician for 38-year-old Anna Nicole Smith, said she had an "uneventful" Caesarean section at the private hospital on Thursday.
"Both mother and baby are presently doing well," Minnis said at the press conference.

"The cause of death is not natural," Her Majesty's Coroner Linda P. Virgill tells PEOPLE. "However, we wish to reserve the cause of death at this time pending the toxicologist examination and report for confirmation of cause of death. Daniel Smith was found sitting upright in a chair after going to see his mother and his new half-sister in the private Doctors Hospital in Nassau, Reginald Ferguson, assistant commissioner of the Royal Bahamas Police Force, told reporters late Monday.
According to Virgill, a coroner's inquest with a jury will take place, and Anna Nicole Smith will likely be asked for her testimony. "All persons who are relevant witnesses, like his mother and hospital staff and airline personnel who had contact with him, would have to testify," Virgill says. "The inquest would happen late October or early November to determine how, when and by what manner Daniel came to his death."
She continued, "The family wishes to return the body to the United States, but it won't be released until the reports are in."

I just saw a brief thing on the news - didn't pay too much attention. He looked to be in his late teens or early twenties. I could be wrong. I think it was sudden and as yet unexplained. I'll watch you question now to see if anyone else comes up with something. i just didn't want you to be left hanging with no answers.

was it my question that you read and he was 20 years old and he died when he went to visit her when she just gave birth to her daughter it was in the Bahamas and they said he had heart problems how weird is that well God makes no mistakes so I hope he is resting in peace and my prayers are with her and the family despite what she has done when it is all said and done that is a mother who just lost a child and I hope they respect her

Thay say he had a massive heart attack, but its not confirmed as to why he had a heart attack.

He was twenty. It happened last Sunday. He came to visit her three days after she gave birth in the Bahamas and died sitting up in a chair in her hospital room. Poor kid. Heres an article...
