My problem is that i don't have the courage to dance, i always feel that i make a fool of myself by dancing, i fear that it's becoming embarrasing, i don't know why, because i took dance lessons (latino and stuff like that), but i don't feel confident enough. I don't want to make mooves, that make me look like a stripper. Maybe i'm too severe in this subject (judging what is too provokative and what is not) But i don't want to be seen like a geek who strougles to dance but, just can't do it right. It is becoming a real problem at parties. My real problem is that i don't feel confident enough, when i'm at a party, sometimes i drink a beer, and these symptoms just vanish, but if i don't, i don't know what to do with my arms and legs. Nobody said that i dance bad, but.... My question is, how can i dance in the way, that i don't look like a stripper, but i dance good? Lately i don't feel like i'm an attractive woman, i mean i'm ok, but... sometimes i have doubts.

The problem isn't your dancing , it's your self esteem ! You presume that people will judge you and this is making you too aware of what your arms and legs are doing. Why don't you try a drama class as well. You get to be silly in front of others and learn to lose those inhibitions. I can't promise it will work , but it has helped a good friend of mine who was actually a professional ballet dancer and yet felt completely self conscious in a night club environment. Hope it works out and you find your feet !

If no-one has said you are a bad dancer then you are not. Just relax and have a look around at how other people are dancing before attempting to dance yourself. I am the same i only dance if ive been drinking and i always look like a stripper but i get no complaints lol....Maybe taking a few confidence classes would help also.

You're worrying too much. If you don't have the confidence to dance sober yet, just do it after a few drinks until you show yourself that you really can dance well, and then aren't uncomfortable doing it without the alcohol. I've talked to some girls that say they don't like dancing except with a few of the girlfriends around, unless they drink some. It's normal.

Sounds to me like the problem isn't really your dancing ability, it's more to do with self esteem and confidence. I suggest that you make some time for yourself and have a good pampering. Why not try going to the gym too. You'll get fitter, maybe feel more confident and more in control of your body. Then the next time you go dancing it might all click into place.

Sometimes it helps when you dance with some friends...not as embaressing. I feel the same way you do sometimes but just let the music soften up your body a bit...sway to the beat a bit more and more until you really get into it. That method always works for me.

As long as your not getting wasted, to be able to dance freely & confidently. I don't think there's anything wrong with have a beer or 2 to take the edge off. Nerves and thinking to much can really mess with your head.

Apart from taking dance lessons, just sway with the music, slowly at first and then letting yourself go slowly. You will soon get into the rhythm and enjoy yourself. After all you are dancing for yourself, not to impress others.

I can't either - never been able to let go of my inhibitions - but on the rare occasions that I have danced in public I've been told I look a complete d i ck - so I don't bother at all now. (Dance at home, on your own)

don't worry about it! You can enjoy yourself more if you don't take yourself too seriously! And especially for dancing- it can look bad if its all hesitant and shy, but for me someone who looks like they're having fun and is able to laugh at themselves a bit almost certainly IS fun- which i think looks more attractive anyway- who wants someone that cant crack asmile cos they're concentrating on looking cool?
Enjoy urself! x
