Well, it is probably like a communications class where they go over the basics of blogging as a tool for journalism/communication in the new age. My brother took a journalism class that focused on blogs last semester at UNC-Chapel Hill.

there is a multitude of subjects blogging could fall under. hopefully it is being taught as a popular culture class. I audited a class on hip hop culture. It would probably classified as sociology or anthropology and basically delve into the blog phenomenon. why and how people blog how it effects society and in turn how society effects it. It would probably be pretty interesting. however, if it's a how to blog class that would be lame. no one needs to be taught the proper way to blog since there is no proper way.

The very roots of current culture. Current events perceived and given feedback on immediately, by all different viewpoints all over the world.

Pretty interesting stuff, actually.

ETA: The journalism answer is probably closer. Can you tell I'm an anthro person?
