I hope to get maNy responses!!! In the event of a natural disaster or "terriost attack" are you prepared. & how

How knowledgeable are you in these situations? Do you have an emergency plan and supplies in order? Do you know where the closest shelter is? Do you think your town and state is prepared? Your experiences and suggestions...

My story.. I work with a hotel-120 rooms. We had a full house. Emergency lights and phones only lasted 3 hours. 1 flashlight in entire building. We have several seniors and children. Two had required electricity for medical devices....No plan was ever discussed or even established. I call the city- they cant do anything. The next day the manager buys 20 flashlights... Worst night of my life~!

I would think someone would enforce emergency plans.... Especially at hotels. Just recently they have commercials- "Are you prepared" well ARE THEY PREPARED. I know I am...I feel for those who were affected by the floods. Everyone knows how that went.

I'm from Iceland and there we can expect natural disasters at any time. I'm prepared. I know how I should react in case of a disaster (volcanic eruptions, avalance, earthquake, storms etc.) and there's always some extra food supplies at home and if I'm travelling out of town I always take along more food than is needed and warm clothes, just in case something comes up and I'll be stuck somewhere.

I'm not prepared for a war. There are no shelters, but then again, Iceland is a peaceful place and not very likely to get caught up in a war any time soon. Terrorist attacks are another story, but they can happen anywhere anytime and are hard to prepare for. Going to shelter in case of a terrorist attack isn't very clever, because terrorists are among normal people and can blow themselves up in a shelter as well.

Been through that exact situation and you are absolutely right! Most of the "emergency plans" as they are written are a joke because they presume you have three or four people on hand (and a staff of 20), not a full house of guests (and a night staff of one!) -- but we all know that's when it hits the fan.
