I got my belly button pierced 5 years ago. When I got it done I didnt realize it was crooked and it wasnt really noticable until now. It is center on the bottom but off to the left on the top. I dont want to but I have to let it grow shut so it can be redone straight. Just wondering how long it will take for it to grow shut so I can go get it done again. And please only answer if you know. Dont put no I dont know answer just to get your points.

If it is fully healed, which after 5 years it should be, then it will slowly shrink down to about an 18 gauge maybe a 20 gauge and it may never fully close up (you could get lucky some people do and get piercings that are very old to close fully). How long it will take to do this depends on your genetics. How long did it take to heal? take that amount of time as your estimation for how long it could take to close up or shrink...so about 6 months to 2 years depending on your body. If you can get it to shrink down to an 18 gauge you should have no trouble getting it repierced.

This happened to me when I got mine done! It wasn't infected but it stayed really tender and slightly red for months! I kept mine in but took it out everyday and washed the hole with piercing cleaner/disinfectant and put moisturiser and Aloe Vera gel on it and it healed up in about a month after that. Some people just take AGES to heal.

If it's anything like an ear piercing, then after five years it probably wont grow shut. It's no longer open tissue but has formed new skin.

That depends on your body. Some of my friends had theirs grow shut after having it in for 8 yrs.. But one of my friends had hers in for 6 months, decided to have a baby and took it out, and it never did grow shut.... Ask you Doctor to look at it and he/she can help you with healing methods...

I had mine taken out 4 months ago. It closed in less than 2 weeks. It's pretty fast from my experience.
