Because of its combustion chamber design, the 'Hemi' engine is excellent for V8 performance & not to mention widely used (NHRA, etc.); is there a four cylinder engine available that is great for street and strip performance as well?

The 2.24 Toyota four cylinder gives excellent performance. It is fast on acceleration and reliable to say the least. The only thing bad about those four cylinder engines that are used in pickups, is the timing chain. It requires a major engine tear town to replace it.

I pur 85 thousand miles on one of those babies and it was grreat. No I didn't have any timing chain troubles, because I did not put 200 thousand miles on it

There's a few well known four bangers in the import world. One of the most well known may be the Mitsubishi 4G63, which has been in the turbo Eclipses and now shows up in the Lancer Evolution.

The Honda crowd has the B18C that was used in the Integra GS-R and Type R, but recently it seems some of the K-series engines have become "the" Honda motor to have.
