1971 - Reggie Jackson

However Mickey Mantle is the only player to hit home runs completely out of old Tiger Stadium both right and left handed.

Reggie is right.

Six home runs were hit in that game, all by players now in the Hall of Fame.

For the NL:
Johnny Bench
Hank Aaron
Roberto Clemente

For the AL:
Frank Robinson
Reggie Jackson
Harmon Killebrew

Jackson and Robinson both hit their home runs in the 3rd inning (as did Hank Aaron, who hit his first All Star home run). Aaron would also homer the following year (1972) in front of his home fans in Atlanta.

Dock Ellis of the Pirates was the NL pitcher.

Frank Robinson actually was the game's MVP, and he also became the first player to homer for both the NL and the AL in his All Star game career (he began his career with Cincinnati).

For all of you who said Reggie Jackson, Jackson's ball did not clear the roof. It hit off the light stanchion and bounced back.
