I would trade a lot of better paying jobs for being back on stage with a band. I used to sing, still do, but no longer for audiences (I even think kindly of the no-show-up-shows or paid rehearsals we did with 10 to 20 in the audience). Yea, that I guess will be my all-time favorite job, no matter how much fun I may have with the things I do now. Nothing beats performing live on stage!

I worked in San Francisco for a non-profit organization named Swords To Plowshares. We called it Swords.
It was opened by a Vietnam Veteran who became aware of the problems Veterans have returning to civilian life after spending years in the military, and compounded by serving in a War Zone or in direct combat. Vietnam was dangerous for the troops in most places at most times.
And, for the ones that experienced combat or were involved with attacks on there duty stations, or lost friends, or worked in the Morgue or, and it goes on forever.
Many of the homeless Veterans we served were combat veterans who had brought Combat Stress with them. It affect their their lives in a profound way from an inability to maintain relationships, suicide, alcohol and drug addictions, inability to support themselves and so on.
At the beginning of Swords in 1974 Post Traumatic Stress Disorder was not yet defined and accepted by the VA. That took many years to be fixed. Just one problem.
I was a Counselor/Case Manager for individual Veterans helping them to solve everyday problems and probems getting medical treatment from the Veteran's Administration for eight years and loved it.
