How do you braid garlic for storage and curing?

Are the stems dried before they are braided or are they green?

Most people wait until the stems are dry before braiding them or the braided part will rot and turn to mush.

Some are more flexible and easier to braid than others. I always grew Rocambole; the stems were way too stiff to be braided!
