Joe Nuxhall was 15 years old when he was signed with the Reds. He actually pitched in a major league game at age 16.

In the MLB draft, high schoolers have to be graduating from high school the year of the draft to enter the draft. The teams in the MLB want to pick up younger players. The teams feel that they can train the young players well. The NBA draft age limit should allow 18 year old players to enter the draft because the MLB has a draft that allows high school seniors. There is alot of young talent period. Hope that answers your question. If you are a graduating senior you can play in the MLB!

I don't know if nowadays there is a "legal" age for allowing someone into the Majors. I would assume if some phenom in high school who can hit 50 home runs a year or win 25 games, some team will try to sign him.

Historically, Joe Nuxhall pitched for the Cinn. Reds when he was just under 16.

I don't think there is an age limit. If there was a 12 year old who was good enough to play, he could. There's just never been anyone younger than about 17-18 who is physically able to compete with the "big boys" in a sport like baseball, football, or basketball.

Don't really think there is an age limit.....Joe Nuxhall was 15 when he came to the majors for the Reds.....lasted what(?) less then an inning and took him something like 9 years to get back....what does that tell you?.....That pitcher Hernandez for the Mariners(I think) is 18 years old and the youngest right now......I wonder who or was the oldest to ever play.....Satchel Paige I bet!......just curious if you under 18....would the city's curfew laws come into play!!

You have to be 18 years old to be drafted in the US and Canada; players from Latin America have to be 16 to be signed.
