Totally, the man is trying to save whats left of his party. He's put most republicans in danger of loosing because of his arrogance. He's also trying to get the American public to buy into the same old tired story of Iraq. I'd like to mention that gas prices are down too. You dont think that all of a sudden in less than 2 weeks oil prices fell that low? Its dropped for the primary season. Bush and his crones control the price of oil and gas, there's no "supply and demand " issues. Its to give a boost to Republicans at the poles so he can say they brought oil prices down. Just another lie from Mr Bush. I didn't buy it from the start and ain't gonna buy it now. Fortunately the rest of America is waking up to his BS too. He isn't a man to be trusted.

Do bears crap in the woods? Every bit of it!
Speaking of the Iraqi insurgency and Osama bin Laden’s al-Qaida movement as a collective “them,” President Bush declared that, “There is only one course of action against them: to defeat them before they attack us at home.” Americans are killing and dying in Iraq, he insisted, “because terrorists want to attack our country and kill our citizens, and Iraq is where they are making their stand,” as if the underground al-Qaida cells in Europe and the United States allegedly responsible for 9/11 thought it strategically sound to base their terrorist operations in Iraq.

Vietnamese stopped killing Americans when our troops got out of their country. Presumably, Iraqis would do the same. It is important to re-emphasize the fact that there was no large-scale terrorist violence in Iraq until after the United States invaded in March 2003 and the terrorist violence which followed came in reaction to that foreign invasion and occupation of their country.

On what was supposed to be a national day of mourning and commemoration, the President launches into another tirade about why going into Iraq was the "right thing to do". An invasion he himself acknowledges had NOTHING TO DO WITH 9/11!! And you don't think that was political? Were we listening to the same speech?!

You even have to ask?

Yes it was completely. 30 seconds into the speech I was yelling at the tv... and he wonders why ppl like me that used to be republicans are full-blown democrats now.

Republicans can't seem to tell the truth about anything. They are STILL talking about a link between Al Qaeda and Saddam.

All speeches by all politicians are politically motivated, especially into today's divisive partisan climate.

All Politicians are politically motivated. Our King is building a "New World Order." What he says are basically all catch 22s...Democrats do it too.

Unless he was a Statesman/woman (and those are extinct) then I would say no.

my word, if he didn't go, the press would jump all over him for being insensitive. everything bush does is controversial because the media hates him. not that i love him, but it drives me nuts how much the press bends every which way to be against him. if anyone but bush did it, it would have been OK. to me, the president of the usa making a speech at the 5 year anniversary of the largest terrorist attack on our nation seems pretty appropriate, democrat or republican.

If the conservatives can take advantage of 9/11 and the victims of 9/11 in any way, they will.

They view 9/11 more as an opportunity.
