Just so you know, the question word is "what is..", not "wuts". A synonym for quality would be "craftsmanship". It's a big word, but if you show the 3rd grader what you mean by it... Find something that is well-built, that has name recognition, something on which you can rely, then you can give him/her the impression of what good craftsmanship is, then they willunderstand the value of "quality"

To a third grader, you would possibly say that the QUALITY of something tells you how good or bad it is. As in high quality or low quality. so, high-grade or low-grade. Try that. (And you were kidding about the "wut" weren't you?)
